FREE COMIC BOOK DAY? WHAT'S THAT?
Free Comic Book Day is a special promotion of the comic book industry that began in 2002. Each of the major publishers and many small press publishers create a special edition comic book that is free to the public. Some issues are reprints of popular or vintage issues while others are completely new and unique material! Many of the available titles will specifically be for younger readers or will contain content appropriate for all ages. Acme will be happy to assist you or answer questions regarding content.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET FREE STUFF?
All you have to do in order to reap the benefits of FCBD is to show up at Acme Comics on Saturday, May 3rd 2008. You don't have to buy anything or do anything other than be here. While Acme will make the all-ages titles widely available for the day, other titles and material will be much more limited. Showing up early for our 10:00am opening is a good idea as many people are aware of FCBD now.

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008, from 10AM - 7 PM! There are few businesses you can go to and get anything for free, so don't miss out!
As a Triad landmark for the past twenty-five years, Acme Comics is serious about Free Comic Book Day as a means to promote the comics industry and to give back to the community that has supported us for so long. We require no purchases in order to participate, we will present local comic creators, trivia, door prizes, and more to be announced!

ARTIST APPEARANCE SCHEDULE*
RANDY GREEN - 11:00am until 1:00pm
Randy is a local artist who has had a ton of exposure in the world of comics over the years. If you look through your boxes you will likely find material he has done such as House of M: Day After one-shot, Teen Titans #50, JLA Classified #47-48, Witchblade comics, Emma Frost's series, and New X-men: Academy X. Randy will be happy to sign them all for you!
MARTY BLEVINS & BRIAN SHEARER - Time: TBD
Marty and Brian create one of the most unique and fun all-ages concepts around, Gravy Boy! Intended to manipulate the power of gravity, our hero is consigned the power to control gravy due to a clerical error! Marty will be happy to sign copies of Gravy Boy, on sale at Acme, and in addition to signing Brian may be doing sketchwork. Couldn't hurt to ask!
RYAN RUBIO & THOMAS BOATWRIGHT - 12:00pm - eh, whenever
Always the Acme Comics staples, Ryan and Thomas hit it big with Cemetery Blues (this concept debuted at a previous Acme FCBD) whose recent Haunting of Hernesburg mini series was picked up by major publisher Image Comics! Issue #1 was very well recieved by both fans and critics and sold completely out at Image, but we do have copies of all three issues at Acme! Thomas has a reputation for a mean quick sketch so if the mood strikes him, you might be in for a treat! Either way, be sure to pick up or bring your issues of Cemetery Blues OR Boatwright's Surreal Adventures of Edgar Allan Poo graphic novel!
CHRIS FASON - 10:00am until 7:00pm
Chris is a new addition to Free Comic Book Day that we are happy to host! Chris has done material for Hero Happy Hour, Dr. Blink Super-hero Shrink, and more! Chris also does a killer Batman quick sketch so ask him about it!
* Artists will sketch or not at their own discretion and will do so for a fee or not if they so choose. Just ask the artist to find out!
Iron Man will be on hand to greet our guests, fresh off the release of his movie the day before! There will also be door prizes, raffles, trivia contests, and more fun than you can shake a stick at!
