As always, Acme is a proud participant in this activity designed to promote reading, fun, and of course COMICS!!! In our continuing effort to do this event right, there's no purchase necessary and no limit on the number of titles you can receive. Grab one of EVERYTHING! Check further down on the page for some of the most exciting offerings!
We're very pleased to announce the first annual Free Comic Book Day Sketch Cave at Acme. All of the artists in the sketch cave will be offering free sketches during their stay in the tent located in front of the store. Feel free to get your books signed by the creators inside the store and inquire when they might be making their way into the Cave!
 
 
 
We're honored to welcome to the store for the first time the fastest rising and most innovative creator in comics today, Jonathan Hickman. He exploded onto the scene in 2007 with his six issue Image mini series the Nightly News, and since then has gone on to blow the doors off of his other creator-owned projects Pax Romana, Red Mass for Mars, and Transhuman. In February, he'll make his debut from Marvel Comics on the Brian Michael Bendis co-written series Secret Warriors, starring Nick Fury and his new Howling Commandos, and Dark Reign Fantastic Four!
 
Inker Mark Morales has contributed his fine-tuned talents to such titles as Secret Invasion with Leinil Yu, X-Force, Young Avengers, and New Avengers: Illuminati with Jim Cheung, Sentry: Reborn with John Romita Jr., and New Avengers, Marvel Knights 4, and Ultimate Secret with Steve McNiven. He's currently inking Thor with Olivier Coipel and will be teaming up with Jim Cheung again for the below-mention, much-anticipated Avengers Free Comic Book Day one-shot! Mike Choi broke into the comics industry at Top Cow, penciling most of Withblade from issue #75-100. He has since become exclusive with Marvel, as artist on the X23: Target X mini series written by Chris Yost, Uncanny X-Men #495-499 written by Ed Brubaker, and X-Force #7-10 and the Messiah War one-shot and X-Force #14-16 as part of the upcoming X-Force/Cable crossover "Messiah War." Mike is one of Marvel's Young Gun artists of 2009, and as such did a beautiful variant cover for Dark Avengers #2!

Eisner award winning writer Sean McKeever had a such a good time during his Acme signing in October that he's decided to come back and join us again! Sean first garnered praise for his independent, creator-owned series The Waiting Place before going on to make his mainstream mark at Marvel on Incredible Hulk, Inhumans, Gravity, Sentinel, and the much beloved Spider-man Loves Mary Jane. Lately Sean's been shaking things up on Teen Titans and the spin-off mini series Terror Titans.

CHRIS SAMNEE
 
 
Artist Chris Samnee defies the common conceptions of Marvel, DC, and independent creators as well as the use of positive and negative space. Chris got his start in the comic spotlight with the original graphic novel Capote in Kansas written by Ande Parks and then moved on to Queen & Country Operation: Red Panda with Greg Rucka, both from Oni Press. Since then Chris has worked on Daredevil: Blood of the Tarantula with Parks and Ed Brubaker for Marvel, Checkmate with Rucka for DC, and Exterminators and American Splendor for Vertigo. He'll be taking over art duties on the Mighty from DC with issue #5 written by Peter Tomasi and Keith Champagne. He keeps a daily sketch blog at Chris Samnee.com.
