This Week's Letter: E

Including:

-Ex Machina (MR) - Brian K. Vaughn (Y: The Last Man, Lost, Heroes) plots one of the most intricate and calculated comics since Watchmen in his political analysis of New York in the post-9/11 era as seen from the eyes of New York's greatest and only super hero, the Great Machine, and his alter ego, Mayor Mitchell Hundred. Drawn by Tony Harris (Starman, Spider-man: With Great Responsibility) it's a roller coaster ride of intrigue, action, and opinion.
-Eternals vol. 2 - written by Neil Gaiman (Sandman, Marvel 1602) and drawn by John Romita Jr. (World War Hulk, Fallen Son: Captain America, everything else), this seven issue update of Jack Kirby's classic concept places the Eternals right in the midst of Civil War and the Registration Act with the deft people have come to expect of Gaiman's assisting narration and Romita's ever-evolving art.
-The Escapists - again written by Vaughn as a homage to Michael Chabon's Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay which in itself was a homage to the works of Will Eisner. This five issue limited series from Dark Horse tells new escapades of the Escapist and Luna Moth while framing an intimate story of a very Vaughn-ish character in Cleveland, searching for comic writer fame on his own terms. Features covers by John Cassaday, Jae Lee, Frank Miller, James Jean, and Paul Pope.

Honorable Mentions: Eclipso (Infinite Crisis, Countdown), Elephantmen, Excalibur, Exiles, and Emma Frost (origin story).
