Even when the store's closed, the party continues from my couch! I hope that everyone is enjoying the 4th, and remember, because most of us are lavishing in this day off, the flip side is that new comics will arrive on Thursday next week! There is balance in everything, I suppose.
Stephen's So-Called Emo Life!
- My Chemical Romance "The Black Parade is Dead" - listened to an interview with Gerard last night. Watched "Life on the Murder Scene" this morning. Listened to "Black Parade" after that. Despite the lack of special features, I'm really excited about getting into this tonight. Is it wrong to watch fireworks over Mexico City with MCR playing rather than going to Grimsley and watching the fireworks with the Greensboro Orchestra playing?
- Mad Men - finally checking out AMC's hit thanks to Raph. There's something mesmerizing about it. But I still feel like I'm missing something about it. It makes me feel kind of dumb, but I could also be looking for something that isn't there. The subtext. Ha.
- Sleeper - I spoke about it at some kind of length on the message board, but I'm still going to hold to the fact that this is amazing. It's like "Wanted" without the condescension to the reader and the bluntness for the sake of being shocking. Basically Criminal meets Wanted. The messed up part: There is a giant chuck of this in the stuff for the .25 cent sale next weekend!

Criminal tpb #3 - three of the most heartbreaking tales you'll ever see. Brubaker talks on the newest Word Balloon about his process while writing them and it just makes me want to sit down and re-read the tapestry he wove.

Young Liars #5 - I can't tell yet if this book is madness for the sake of madness or something more, but it's pretty stunning either, and probably isn't getting the attention that it deserves.
