07/08/2008 - 7:00pm
Has it really already been half a year? You bet! And that means that the Backstock Sale is starting over again with "A." Take this second chance as an opportunity to round out a series that you may have started or tried the first time through, get caught up on something you might have missed, or dive in for the first time, since we know some of you took a while to catch on to just how crazy this opportunity is! All letters have recently been re-stocked, so don't think for a second that just because we didn't have something the last time you checked, that means we don't have it now! Without further ado, we remind you of the greatness in the A's:

  • Action Comics - including the recent arcs by Geoff Johns such as Last Son drawn by Andy Kubert, Escape from Bizarro World drawn by Eric Powell, and the Legion of Super Heroes crossover drawn by Gary Frank!
  • Alias - by Bendis and Michael Gaydos, this is one of the best series of the decade featuring the best new character since the turn of the century, Jessica Jones!
  • All Star Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder - sometimes deadly serious, sometimes satire, always controversial!
  • Astonishing X-men - by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday, now that there's a cap on it, it can officially be said that this was the best X-Men run of the last five years and will certainly go down in history as one of the greatest runs on any book in history! Get caught up just in time to jump on the direction change as Warren Ellis and Simone Bianchi take over this week with #25!
  • Avengers - Kree/Skrull War reprints, Avengers Under Siege, Avengers Forever, West Coast Avengers, all of Kurt Busiek's vol. 3 run, New Avengers, Mighty Avengers, Avengers Initiative, Illuminati (and the Road to Civil War special) and a whole lot more goodness from Earth's Mightiest Heroes!
Honorable Mentions: Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's All Star Superman, Angel, Annihilation and Annihilation Conquest, Kurt Busiek's Astro City, Warren Ellis, Mark Millar, Bryan Hitch, and Frank Quitely's Authority, and Azrael.

*Backstock refers to back issues of comic series bagged and priced in the long boxes in the back issue room. This special weekly back issue sale does NOT apply to Silver Age comics, Back Wall comics, New issues on the shelf, Variant covers, trade paperbacks, Hardcovers, Action Figures, or Statues.
