Acme 25th Anniversary 365 Day 50% Off Backstock Sale*

Probably the most anticipated of any letter yet!

This Week's Letter: X

  • X-Men - from Chris Claremont and Jim Lee's historic five cover launch to Grant Morrison's second generation re-imaging from #114-154 with the help out Frank Quitely, Ethan Van Sciver, Igor Kordy, and others, and Mike Carey's revilatization since #190 with the Supernovas and Blinded by the Light, and Messiah Complex storylines, X-Men has been one of the most consistently popular storylines of the last 15 years!
  • X-Force - the blockbuster launch to Jim Cheung's late 80s (issue number) run and the start of Peter Milligan and Mike Allred's re-vamp!
  • X-Factor - Peter David's baby.
  • X-Men: Pheonix Endsong and Warsong - before Greg Pak had Planet Hulk and World War Hulk, he had Phoenix Warsong, which featured Greg Land's last good, truly credible work and the last definite appearance of Jean Grey. Warsong, also by Pak, went completely under-read, and had huge implications that have been completely overshadowed by the events of Messiah Complex.
  • X-Statix - by Peter Milligan and Mike Allred, with guest issues by Darwyn Cooke and Paul Pope, this is one of Stephen's top 5 favorite series of all time! Funny, edgy (first to shirk the Code), and yet at the same time an unsettling look into what it takes, what must be done, and what exactly the cost is to be a superhero in this world of instant media and fleeting fame.
  • Honorable Mentions - X-23 Innocence Lost and Target X, Xena (from Topps, Dark Horse, and Dynamite), X Files, X-Man, Jeff Parker's X-Men First Class, X-Men Unlimited, Age of Apocalypse, Brian K. Vaughan's Marvel Knights Cyclops, Chris Claremont and Sean Chen's X-Men: The End, and X-O Man o' War.
