We're thrilled to kick things off with a roll call of friends old and new for the Sketch Cave! Joining us will be Reilly Brown (Incredible Hercules), Jacob Chabot (Mighty Skullboy Army), Jeremy Dale (G.I. Joe), Ryan Dunlavey (Comic Book Comics), Matt Frank (Godzilla), Chris Giarrusso (G-Man), Jamal Igle (Supergirl, Lyle Pollard (The Dead Don't Sleep), Chris Samnee (FCBD Captain America/Thor, Gregg Schigiel (SpongeBob Comics), Nick Spencer (Morning Glories), Brian Smith (Intrepid Escapegoat), Fred Van Lente (Incredible Hercules) and Michael Watkins (Sonic the Hedgehog).

Reilly Brown

Comic book artist and writer, Reilly Brown is best known for his work on the series Cable & Deadpool for Marvel Publishing. There he became known for combining expressive characters with fast-paced and dynamic action. Other series he's contributed to include New Warriors, Marvel Apes and Incredible Hercules and Prince of Power.

In 2004 Reilly Brown co-founded Ten Ton Studios, an online collective of artists and writers and popular message board for comic book illustrators, and in 2009 co-founded Outpost 51, an art studio in Brooklyn, NY where he shares workspace with several other artists.


Jacob Chabot

Jacob Chabot is an Acme veteran of both the G-Man Greensboro Cape Crisis and the Very Dapper Signing. He's the creator of the Mighty Skullboy Army (digest available from Dark Horse) and the artist of X-Babies from Marvel. He has slept on the little couch in Stephen's comic book room. He's awesome. Jeremy Dale

Jeremy Dale is a comic book artist best known for his work on G.I. Joe comics for Hasbro with creator Larry Hama as well as the 2008 Harvey Award-winning Popgun v.1 from Image Comics. He is currently working on several projects, including the upcoming Carter Kain: Rocket Ranger and Miserable Dastards (recently optioned as a feature film), and is working on the creator-owned Skyward series.

Ryan Dunlavey

Illustrator Ryan Dunlavey is best known as the artist and co-creator of the American Library Award winning Action Philosophers comic book series (with author Fred Van Lente). Some of Ryan's other comics include M.O.D.O.K. for Marvel Comics, Tommy Atomic for Royal Flush Magazine and the self-published Comic Book Comics (also with Van Lente), the first ever cartoon history of the American comic book industry. His comics and illustrations have appeared in Mad, Wizard, ToyFare, The Princeton Review, Time Out and Disney Adventures. He lives in New York City with his wife and son.

Matt Frank

Matt Frank is a comic artist best known for his rampages through the worlds of giant monsters. He has contributed work to IDW's Transformers series, most notably the Beast Wars Sourcebook, as well as his big one-shot, Wrath of the Titans: Cyclops for the Ray Harryhausen Presents series from Blue Water Productions. He has also contributed to the Marvel hardcover character books and the new game Dungeon In A Deck. Matt was most recently the lead artist for IDW's Godzilla Store-Crushing Cover project, as well as subsequent incentive covers for Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters. He is also currently working on a web comic series titled Giant Monster Zak!

Chris Giarrusso

If there's anyone that doesn't need an introduction here at Acme Comics, it's G-Man and Mini Marvels creator Chris Giarrusso, who will be visiting us for the fifth time! Chris first joined us for Marvel March Madness and has since returned for G-Man's Greensboro Cape Crisis, Free Comic Book Day 2010, and the Very Dapper Signing. He has slept on an inflatable mattress in Stephen's comic book room. He makes his cyberspace home at Chris G Comics.com.


Jamal Igle

Starting at the tender age of 17, Jamal Yaseem Igle has worked his way up the ranks from Intern at D.C. Comics to a successful penciling career. Over the years Jamal has been editor, art director and animation storyboard artist for numerous companies such as Sony Animation and Scholastic inc. He is currently an Exclusive Artist for DC Comics.

Jamal is the Co- creator of the comic book series VENTURE, along with writer Jay Faerber, published by Image Comics. Jamal's detailed pencils have graced books such as Countdown: The Search for Ray Palmer: Crime Society, Nightwing, and Firestorm The Nuclear Man. In addition Jamal is an active volunteer with the Museum of Comic and Cartoon art, as well as a guest lecturer on the subject of comics and animation. A former instructor of Comics and Sequential art at the Art Students league of New York., Jamal is working on issues of Countdown #21, Green lantern Corps # 18 and Teen Titans #52, as well as the maxi-series Tangent: Superman's Reign. His next project for DC will be announced very soon.

Jamal is married to his beautiful and far more intelligent wife , Karine and father to a beautiful baby girl, Catherine


Lyle Pollard

Lyle Pollard is an artist/creator/writer for Highburn Studios and Indie Revival Studios. He was worked on his own project, Tribulations for the past few years, as well as other comics such as Cookies, Dressed to Kill, and, his most recent project, The Dead Don't Sleep, which is written by Jason Smith.

He has also worked on Femme Noir with fellow Studio-mate, Michael Watkins.


Chris Samnee

Chris is swell. And you all know it, because we sold out over 20 copies of Serenity: A Shepard's Tale in one day and you made your voices heard loud and clear when Thor: the Mighty Avenger was originally released and sadly cancelled. Thankfully, Chris and his partners in crime, writer Roger Langridge and colorist Matt Wilson, will get another shot at the god of thunder in Free Comic Book Day's Captain America/Thor team-up and Chris's gonna celebrate its release with us! Gregg Schigiel

Gregg is a lot time partner-in-crime of the Acme crew, having burned the midnight oil at many a convention with Jermaine and Stephen and having come down for the G-Man Greensboro Cape Crisis event in October of 2009. Gregg has also made quite the impression on the youth of Acme, having written X-Babies: Stars Reborn, written and drawn Pix: Teenage American Fairy in the back of the G-Man: Cape Crisis series, and drawn the premiere story in SpongeBob Comics. He's also made his mark on the comic book intelligencia with his column on Acme Comics.com, co-written with Stephen, Regarding: Comics! Visit him online at Hatter Entertainment.com.


Nick Spencer

Every year there's a name on everyone's lips and we try to get them for you. This year, that name is Nick Spencer, whose sell-out hits Morning Glories and Infinite Vacation have helped redefine Image Comics. Those only back up a catalogue that already includes Forgetless, Shuddertown and Existence 2.0 and 3.0, also from Image, and continues to grow with licensed work on Iron Man 2.0 for Marvel and Jimmy Olsen at DC!


Brian Smith

Free Comic Book Day has been good to Brian Smith. Stuff of Legend, which Smitty co-writes with Mike Raicht, debuted on FCBD 2009 and was undoubtably the runaway hit of that year's offerings. Lightning will definitely be striking twice come the first Saturday in May when Smitty debuts his new creator-owned series, the Intrepid Escapegoat! It'll also be Brian's third trip to Acme! Fred Van Lente

Fred Van Lente is the New York Times bestselling author of Incredible Hercules (with Greg Pak) and three entries in the Marvel Zombies series, as well as the American Library Association award-winning Action Philosophers. His original graphic novel Cowboys & Aliens (co-written with Andrew Foley) is being adapted into motion picture form by Dreamworks and Universal, starring Daniel Craig. Michael Watkins

Mike Watkins has given more of himself to Free Comic Book Day than perhaps any other guest. He's drawn until his hand bled and then drawn some more. But if there's a situation that requires a Sonic or Dark Knight (or Bret Michaels) style Joker, he's your man!
