The big question on everyone's mind today seems to be "If it snows tonight, how will that affect the Violet Ring Release planned for tomorrow?" If it snows enough that we decide to keep the shop closed, rings will be available whenever we open up again until whenever they run out. If it doesn't snow enough to keep the shop closed, as long as we're here tomorrow the rings will be available. Stay tuned to the website and the twitter feed for updates as the weather progresses.
If you haven't already heard, a Diamond Distribution truck carrying a shipment of next week's Marvel Comics was involved in a serious accident yesterday. As a result some titles were badly damaged and are being allocated. While we seem to be able to cover everyone on subscriptions, there might be some books with smaller stacks on the shelf, so if you don't subscribe make sure you come by and grab your stuff in a timely manner.
Last but not least, next week will see the release of Siege Embedded #2, guest-starring...well, ME! I went into it in a lot more detail a few weeks ago, but there are a few copies of #1 still available and you can check out a colored preview here (not featuring my page).
Stephen's So-Called Emo Life!
- The Sub Spot - a couple of doors down from Ham's in the Brassfield shopping center. Good food, good people, good prices.
- Bronson - playing for one week ONLY at the Carousel! It looks pretty twisted, but this is a new initiative by the folks at the theater and the Mix Tape Film Series to give the Triad a chance to see unique films that wouldn't otherwise be available to us, so head out and watch it!
- Let's Dish - I forgot to report last week on how the food turned out. I'm making a note here "great success." Carly and I have eaten at home more regularly in the last two weeks than ever before and all of the dishes were delicious. We'll definitely be going back to sample the February menu.
- Corinne Bailey Rae - I first saw her on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip a few years ago, but with her new album coming out I heard a review on NPR, Jermaine had her on a playlist we listened to at the store on Wednesday, and I heard her in the grocery store. Soundtrack of my week.
- iPad - I made my thoughts known in the thread on the message board, but overall I'm pretty excited!
