Hey guys, Ian here. Since I am "the new guy", I just wanted to take a moment to say hello and properly introduce myself and let you know about some things I have planned for the future. I am fairly new to comics, I believe I started shopping at Acme back in 2005. I got back into comics with Sandman surprisingly. My girlfriend at the time had the Preludes and Nocturnes trade and she made me read it and I instantly fell in love with it. Soon after that I began going to Acme to pick up trades to read at work. I picked up Avengers Disassembled and fell in love with the Marvel Universe so I began picking up House of M and then I was hooked. There are still a lot of things that I haven't read that I know are good and that I know I should read but for one reason or anotherjust haven't read yet. So with that said, one thing I plan on starting is a blog reviewing older books from a newer perspective. Books like Powers, Ex Machina, and Planetary which i am currently reading, and books like Y: The Last Man, Preacher, JLA/Avengers, Avengers Forever, and Morrison's New X-Men that are on the list of things to read. My New Year's Resolution is to catch up with all this reading that i have no excuse not to have read.
Also, I am currently attending culinary school at GTCC which is really fun. Cooking has been a passion of mine for a very long time and it's really exciting to be learning the foudations of the craft. So my other plan is to start an Acme Food Blog just in case there are any other foodies out there that are interested. I'm still brainstorming the format, maybe have a portion for a new recipe each week, a portion explaining what i learned in class that week, and a portion reviewing various restaurants around town. Shoot me some ideas by either responding to this post directly or replying on our message board.
So there you have it, my plans for the future. Expect both blogs to start this month. I look forward to hearing any input you may have on either topic. Another New Year's Resolution I made for myself is to learn everyones name. I am still new so i haven't memorized everyone yet but bear with me and I will get it eventually. I appreciate your patience. I am very happy to be a part of the Acme Team and I am really looking forward to having a fantastic 2010 with all of you!
