Above was the view from my window this time last week, but I'm just as glad to be back here with all of you! Jermaine and I have really hit the ground running upon my return and we're hoping to have a lot of great news to announce to all of you guys in the next couple of weeks. I also posted a bunch of the pictures from my trip in the image gallery, so head on over and check them out! And stay tuned to the end of the blog for some kind words from the cast of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World!

Acme First Look #142 for 7.28.10
Back from a day of traveling that began before sun-up on the west coast and ended after sun-down on the east, but well worth the long hours waiting in Atlanta! I'm gonna try to get as many pictures and video up on the site as possible by the end of the day, so keep checking back!
Acme First Look #141 for 7.21.10
Just a little forewarning, we're going to be doing some site maintanence this weekend, which means from sometime today through Sunday, the message board will probably be read-only and this very blog might disappear for a while. Have no fear! We're in the most capable hands possible and it's all under control!
Can't spend your Saturday posting about all your favorite books this week? Come by the store! All of our t-shirts will be $5. Any size! Any style!
Acme First Look #140 for 7.14.10
Things keep speeding right along, don't they? For weeks people have been asking me when I'm leaving for San Diego and it made it feel like it was right around the corner. Now it kind of really is. But before we get there, we've got the T-Shirt Sale and the Scott Pilgrim release to get through!
Above is a little hint at something to come drawn by Carly.
RE: Comics! #47 [Costumes]
Stephen Mayer: The first thing you think of when Superman pops into your head is the "S" and cape. Every artist wants to put their mark on Iron Man designing a new armor. And what would Captain America be without his shield?
More so than any villain, feat, or motto, it's a character's costume that sells them to a reader, after all, comics is a visual medium. The right threads can mean the difference between greatness and mediocrity.
What makes a really great costume?
We can start by agreeing that all of the mullets and pouches in designs from the '90s were pretty terrible, right.
Acme First Look #139 for 7.8.10
Above is a wonderful drawing that Chris Samnee did for Carly last night! Carly wanted a piece of art to hang in our newly remodeled bathroom and Chris has been offering to do something for her for a while. BOOM! Speaking of Chris, his new ongoing from Marvel, Thor: the Mighty Avenger, starts next week! Add it to your list NOW! If you don't, when you come up to check out I might leap onto the counter and espouse its merits and those of Chris's collaborators Roger Langridge and Matt Wilson until you relent and buy it!

Acme First Look #138 for 6.30.10
First off, I want to welcome Adam to the Gate City! He was living down in T-ville and making many, many trips to Greensboro every week to hang out. Even though his commute will now be 25 minutes longer, his comics will be 25 minutes closer on Wednesday!
In case you don't follow me or the store on Twitter (which you really should!), a direct shipment was waiting for me this morning with replacement copies of this week's American Vampire, so bloodsucker fans, Stephen King fans and Rafael Alberquerque fans alike come get the comic that wasn't in your box this week!
We also received a re-order of JAM! Tales from the World of Roller Derby featuring our pals Doc Shaner, Chris Schweizer and Thomas Boatwright! The Greensboro Roller Derby community really came out in force Wednesday and bought everything we had, so you can get your copy now without fear of catching an elbow in the eye!
Jermaine and I are going to spend a chunk of the afternoon updating our website event calender with sales and other events to keep you busy through these these oppressively hot summer months, so check back later this weekend for details!
RE: Comics! #45 [Sans Stephen]
Gregg Schigiel: Alright everybody, Stephen’s unavailable for this week’s RE: COMICS discussion, and while I’m confident I could ramble on about something all on my own, that sort of defeats the purpose of the comics conversation aspect. So with great pleasure I am honored to be joined in this week’s talk by none other than Lord Retail himself. I welcome you, Jermaine, to RE: COMICS.
Acme First Look #137 for 6.23.10

My phone us also up to some interesting new tricks that should provide some new headaches and surprises this week, so I hope you all enjoi!
